About Gopher-it Cares
Gopher-it Cares, then known as Ottawa Cares, began as an initiative of the Manor Park Community Council. With the support of several Ottawa community associations, including Cardinal Glen, Lindenlea, New Edinburgh, Manor Park, Overbrook, Rockcliffe Park and Vanier, the much needed program helped to bridge the gap and provide last-mile delivery of emergency food and other services from local Resource Centres during the Covid-19 Pandemic.
Gopher-it Cares has continued to organize community and City-wide emergency food delivery to help reduce food insecurity in our communities. These initiatives have included food bank hamper deliveries, prepared meal delivery and “last-mile” delivery.
In April 2022, Ottawa Cares found a temporary home with the Ottawa Food Bank and eventually a permanent one with Gopher-it Cares.
In March 2023, Gopher-it, a local courier company, began their not for profit branch. Ottawa Cares moved under that umbrella and is now called Gopher-it Cares.
We continue to provide volunteer drivers to help alleviate some of the challenges surrounding access to emergency food programs.
